Three rising stars appointed to Jewish Leadership Council

The Jewish Leadership Council has announced the appointment of three of the Jewish community’s rising stars in a move that reaches out to the next generation.

Russell Langer, Judith Flacks and Adam Langleben are to join from roles at the Union of Jewish Students (UJS), a former role at Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre (BICOM) and the London Mayoral Campaign respectively.

Both Langer and Flacks have recently held the role of Campaigns Manager at UJS, with Langer the incumbent.

“I am proud to appoint three up and coming stars of our community to fill these roles,” said JLC chief executive Simon Johnson. “I am also proud that we have given a vote of confidence in UJS and those who have worked there.”

Langleben, a Labour councillor in West Hendon, has worked with London Assembly Member and former MP Andrew Dismore, and most recently headed Tessa Jowell’s Field Operations campaign for her London mayoral bid.

He becomes JLC’s head of digital and stakeholder engagement, Flacks will head up JLC’s campaigns team, while Langer is given a public affairs brief.

Together with the Board of Deputies’ senior vice-president Richard Verber, the appointments mean that several crucial communal roles are now being filled by those under the age of 35.

The JLC said the three new recruits were “part of a strategy to create communal capacity for strategic public policy outreach and to respond to today’s most important challenges whilst preparing for the future”.

In addition, new investment will also see the recruitment of three external affairs managers based in Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester appointed this summer.
