Trump adviser: ‘Carbon dioxide is demonised like Jewish victims of Nazis’

A senior Trump adviser has compared what he sees as the “demonisation” of carbon dioxide to the plight of Jews in Nazi Germany.

Physicist William Happer, 79, is professor-emeritus at Princeton University who has attacked the science behind climate change and defended carbon dioxide.

He sits as Trump’s deputy assistant for emerging technologies on the National Security Council.

Happer told CNBC in 2014: “The demonisation of carbon dioxide is just like the demonisation of the poor Jews under Hitler.

“Carbon dioxide is actually a benefit to the world and so were the Jews.”

The clip resurfaced on Monday after the New York Times reported that Happer could soon lead a “climate review panel” to dispute climate research.

But the Times also reported that several White House officials, including the president’s chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow, have urged Trump against Happer’s proposal.
