American president-to-be Donald Trump has been candid in his thoughts on Israel and the Middle East in recent months, most notably at the AIPAC policy conference earlier this year, and to the Jewish Republican Coalition before that. Here’s a few snippets that give some clues as to his thinking on the issues that matter to many.

On Iran: “My number-one priority is to dismantle the disastrous deal with Iran… We will totally dismantle Iran’s global terror network”

On Obama: “President Obama may be the worst thing to ever happen to Israel”

On the UN: “The UN is not a friend of democracy, it’s not a friend to freedom, it’s not a friend even to the United States… and it surely is not a friend to Israel… I will veto any attempt by the UN to impose its will on the Jewish state”

On Israel: “When I become president, the days of treating Israel like a second-class citizen will end on day one”

On Bibi: “I will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu immediately. I have known him for many years and we’ll be able to work closely together”

On Palestinians: “Half of the population of Palestine has been taken over by ISIS and Hamas, and the other half refuses to confront the first half”

On the U.S. Embassy: “We will move the American embassy to the eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem”

On the peace process: “Palestinians must come to the table willing to accept that Israel is a Jewish state and it will forever exist as a Jewish state”

And to Jewish Republicans…

“I know why you’re not going to support me. You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money. Look, I’m a negotiator, like you folks”
