Tunisia appoints Jewish Minister of Tourism

Roni Trabelsi named as one of 13 new appointments made by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed

Roni Trabelsi will become only the second Jewish minister to have served in the predominantly Muslim country after he was appointed as its new Minister of Tourism.

One of 13 appointments made to the cabinet by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, Trabelsi is a successful businessman who reportedly lives in France, though claims Tunisian citizenship.

He will follow in the footsteps of Nessim Samama, who served as the finance minister to the King of Tunis in 1860.
