Twitter didn’t remove post claiming Stamford Hill ‘riddled with full blown Jews’

Twitter has been ridiculed for not seeing a problem with a tweet which said Stamford Hill was “riddled with full blown Jews” who were “absolutely vile”.

The tweet, sent on 14 October and reported by a local Shomrim volunteer force organiser, read: “Drove through Stamford Hill today. F*** me the gaffs[sic] riddled with full blown Jews. Absolutely vile.”

It was sent by Thomas Andrews, a self-described part-time DJ, but was deemed “not abusive” by the U.S-based social media giant, a stance which left MPs fuming. He has since disappeared as a user on the site.

“Twitter has got no interest whatsoever in moderating this kind of content,” said John Mann MP, chair of the All-Party Parliament Group on Anti-Semitism. “This company repeatedly allows offensive and bullying materials.”

Mann, speaking to MailOnline, said he would be proposing a new law in 2018 whereby social media giants will have as much responsibility for content as broadcasters.

In a statement responding to a complaint from Shulem Stern, Twitter said the firm’s investigation found “no violation of rules regarding abusive behaviour”.
