A leading Jewish charity in the UK has appointed Kira Blumer as its new chief executive.

Tzedek – which works to reduce extreme poverty around the word – announced the appointment in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“We are so excited to be entering into this new phase and look forward to sharing our continued success with you,” the post said about Blumer, who moved from Canada to the UK in 2017.

She earned a first class bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Calgary in Canada and spent a year in Israel at the University of Haifa.

The new chief executive has worked in senior management and on-the-ground youth roles with BBYO, Hillel and Jewish summer camp.
