United Synagogue youth group launches photo-led interactive tool for Pesach

Album shows iconic images of Jewish traditions from communities around the world 'to inspire Tribe members and their families to think about their own traditions ..'.

United Synagogue youth group Tribe has launched an interactive educational tool to be used at Pesach Seder focused on tradition.

The photo-led album for those aged 21 or under shows iconic images of Jewish traditions from communities around the world “to inspire Tribe members and their families to think about what their own traditions mean to them”.

One image shows a page from the Rothschild Haggadah in Italy, dated 1450, while another shows a Shabbat candle lighting from Geskel Salamon’s 1900 painting ‘The Blessing of the Sabbath Lights’.

Others show two members of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce presenting a resident with a prize for her Chanukah decorations in 1953, while another shows the Scroll of Esther with coloured illustrations from Ferrara, Italy, dated 1616.

The interactive album prompts questions, including the meaning behind the images, and offers a selection of prizes such as vouchers or cookery classes to those who email explaining why their traditions are important to them.
