Video: Thousands gather at Western Wall for priestly blessing

The traditional annual 'Birkat Kohanim' takes place at the Kotel in the Old City of Jerusalem

Thousands of Jewish pilgrims have attended the annual priestly blessing ceremony at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

The ceremony – a traditional Passover event known as ‘Birkat Kohanim’ – takes place at the Kotel in the Old City of the Israeli capital.

Jews who are descended from the tribe of priests – the Cohanim – cover their heads with the talit (prayer shawl) as they give the blessing.
