Suarez has got the support of the Jewish wife of the Uruguayan President

THE JEWISH wife of the Uruguayan President Jose Mujica is the latest person to have her say over the Luis Suarez biting scandal. Refusing to keep her mouth shut – like the Liverpool striker – Lucia Topolansky’s backed up her husband who brandished FIFA “sons of bitches” after they handed Suarez a four-month ban for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder. The pair have also accused football’s world governing body’s treatment of the striker as “fascist” treatment. Since her outburst, Suarez has apologised for the incident. Wouldn’t hold your breath on her doing the same.

WHILE STILL basking in their Eurobasket glory, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s preparations for next season have been thrown into disarray after their star player from last season, Tyrese Rice, signed a three-year deal with Russian side Khimki Moscow. The 27-year-old had one more year left on his contract, but also had a release clause estimated at 350,000 dollars. And while repeatedly saying he’d remain in Tel Aviv – and Maccabi even offering to increase his salary by 50 percent, the offer from the Russians proved too good for him to turn down. The spoils of success.
