AND SO the wait is almost over. No, not to see whether Spurs can finally finish above Arsenal in the Premier League, not even to see if Arsene Wenger has actually spent any money this summer (though hopefully by the team you read this he has). Sunday morning sees the return of Sunday morning Jewish football and teams are chomping at the bit to get their season underway.

Faithold A were the team to beat in the Premier Division last season, though Hendon A manager David Garbacz believes his team will be just that this season. Never backwards in coming forwards, he said: “We expect to win it and we will be going all out to win it.”

There aren’t as many boasts being made in the lower divisions, though there are three bosses in Division One who believe they’re capable of coming out on top – Brady B’s Josh Dagul, Shirley Park’s David Lusman and Hendon B’s Aryeh Goldring.

Division Two could be interesting, not least because Oakwood B’s Ian Tussie fears the sack if he doesn’t deliver the goods. Hoping to stop him doing that, (though surely not wanting to be responsible for him being shown his P45) are the likes of Blizzard Storm, the two FC Team sides and AC Mill Hill.

The final division is notoriously hard to predict, not least because it features new teams who are an unknown force at this
level. Having said that, it’s the old(er) faces of Hendon C and L’Equipe who are setting their sights the highest, though Jacob Kadoch, the manager of new boys King Crown says they’re “Aiming to win the league by playing football in the right way.”

However, the League’s early excitement is provided by the new teams and the names they’ve given themselves.

So step forward Jewdinese. Another fascinating season awaits!
