Adam Warner began the new season in stunning style – as he won gold at the British Masters Open Water Championships.

Held at the Serpentine, the venue for the swimming at the 2012 London Olympics, the 26-year-old said: “It was not only a great result, but also an experience and one I will never forget.”

Winning not only in his age group, but also recording the fastest time in all the masters categories from 25-40+, he added: “I couldn’t be more over the moon, especially considering what happened in the race. I got cramp at various places throughout the race, which made it challenging. I really should have stopped, but I was determined to finish. The competition was fierce but fun!”

Adam’s next in action at the masters nationals in Sheffield in October.
