Warner swims to bronze in Germany

Open water swimmer Adam Warner picked up a bronze medal at the weekend when he finished third in the 5km race at the German open water nationals.

Having signed up with a new team called Torq Fitness, Adam has competed in two recent competitions prior to Germany, winning the 3k race in Welwyn garden city, and then competing last weekend in the 3k and 5k races in Weymouth.

Also finishing 19th place in the 10k race in Hamburg – his first at that distance this season, he said: “The conditions were lovely and warm, 22 degrees water temperature and hot sunny skies, but as expected, the race was very rough.

“I came away with lots of scratched and bruises, as open water swimming is a very brutal sport and can be very rough. But I am very pleased with my performance this weekend, as I travelled by myself and had to sort everything out by myself.”

Adam’s next in action at the Brighton pier to pier race, which he won in 2012.
