Wiener Library receives archive of late historian David Cesarani

Within the 1,404 volumes there are well known and  respected works on the Holocaust, including many in German.

The Wiener Library, one of the world’s main archives on the Nazi era, has received the late Professor David Cesarani’s personal library of more than 400 volumes.

Professor Cesarani died in October 2015.

Within the 1,404 volumes there are well known and respected works on the Holocaust, including many in German, and some of the books received had his handwriting and personal annotations.

The Wiener Library’s Director, Ben Barkow commented on the significance of this donation: ‘We’re very grateful to David’s family for the gift of his fantastic library of books about the Nazi era and the Holocaust.

“To have the personal library of such a great scholar is a real privilege. The Wiener Library is greatly enriched through this.”
