Labour’s Refugee Taskforce chair has paid tribute to an Israeli humanitarian charity that has been assisting refugees in Greece.

Yvette Cooper MP paid tribute to IsraAid, which has given assistance to over 1million people across 34 countries, at a Board of Deputies event on Women Refugees.

The Labour politician said she wants “to pay tribute to IsraAid, one of the charities doing most to help refugees in Greece.”

In January, the Israeli aid agency contributed to the flood relief in the north of England.

The event, organised by the Board’s Women’s and Social Action groups, welcomed representatives from  IsaAid, the Jewish Council for Racial Equality and United Nations High Commission for Refugees UK.

Hosted by Louise Ellman MP, the event took place on International Women’s Day on Tuesday, in Westminster
