Corbyn blasts ‘completely unacceptable’ anti-Semitic abuse sent to Luciana Berger
Jewish Labour MP Luciana Berger has been targeted by online anti-Semitic abuse, which Jeremy Corbyn has condemned as “completely unacceptable.”
Berger posted the anti-Semitic hate she received, including a photograph of her with a Holocaust-era yellow star superimposed on her forehead.
The Liverpool Wavertree MP, who is Shadow Cabinet Minister for Mental Health, added: “Off to Berlin tomorrow for the @icca_global Antisemitism conference. “Woke up to this reminder of why it’s necessary. ”

The tweet, which was retweeted over 1,000 times, received responses from other Members of Parliament from numerous parties, offering support. Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn said the abuse was “completely unacceptable” and that it has “no place in our society.”

Labour MP Yvette Cooper said she supported Luciana “against vile antisemitism & hate crime” calling for action from the police and Twitter, whilst Michael Dugher MP said it “should make us all angry: A depressing reminder of why the fight against anti-semitism is a fight for all of us.”
Shadow secretary for Culture Media and Sport Maria Eagle, tweeted that the abuse was “appalling, disgusting, unlawful”, and Wes Streeting, who also travelled to Berlin for the conference said the “responsibility to tackle this vile hatred towards Jews rests with us all.”
Luciana Berger has previously been the target of abuse, when in October 2014 Garron Helm, a Twitter troll, was jailed for sending Berger similar hate with the hashtag ‘#HitlerWasRight’.
