Summer at The Grove
Five-star Hertfordshire resort offers lazy days, activity-filled days or just chill time with family and friends
There’s something about The Grove in summer that feels slightly unexpected. Set within 300 acres of Hertfordshire countryside, just beyond London, the five-star resort brings together country-house character and contemporary luxury. And at the heart of it all, the Walled Garden is the place where most days begin and end.
Set within the wider estate, it comes into its own in the warmer months. Ralph’s Beach brings a playful energy, with sand underfoot, luxury daybeds and the anticipation of a long afternoon stretching out.
Families drift between the beach and Anouska’s indoor pool, while the outdoor pool and kiosk offering sushi and salads draws those looking to make the most of the sunshine. It strikes a balance between laid-back and lively, with a gentle buzz that carries through into the evening.
Everyman in the Garden returns from 22 July, with early screenings that work for younger guests and later films for more grown-up evenings. With comfy beanbags,
popcorn and drinks close at hand, this experience is about lingering outdoors for those long summer nights.
Food, too, centres closely around the garden itself at the newly-refurbished Jemima’s Kitchen Garden. A Plot-to-Plate experience bring guests closer to what’s being grown on-site with a focus on seasonal produce, open-fire cooking and a more considered way of eating in a truly unique setting.
Beyond the garden walls, there’s plenty on offer to pull in guests. Some will gravitate towards the estate’s more active side – think air rifle shooting, archery and axe-throwing – while others will happily spend hours moving between quieter corners.
Sequoia Spa remains a natural retreat when the pace slows, offering a contrast to the garden’s lively energy. And this summer The Kingdom at The Grove arrives. TaylorMade Gol’s most premium custom fitting experience introduces a more technical, tailored approach to the game, alongside a newly designed short game area that gives players space to refine their skills.
But it’s the balance between all of these elements that gives a stay its momentum, with something for every age, mood and moment. From poolside mornings to evenings that come alive outdoors, summer at The Grove feels effortlessly full of energy.
