Aberdeen denies Palestinian flag-flying was anti-Israel
Judging by the flags, you might think a corner of Scotland was forever Palestine.
But the point of flying a Palestinian flag from Aberdeen Town Hall, which is over 4000km away from Jerusalem, was not anti-Israel according to council leaders.
Rather, the 29 November stunt was to show support for the UN International Day of Solidarity, says Lord Provost George Adam, who took “great exception” to warnings from lawyers that doing so could be seen as an attack on Israel.
New documents released this week show that the UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) raised concerns ahead of the day.
