Andreas Herzog named new Israel manager
Austrian takes over from Elisha Levy, with first match set to take place against Albania in the new UEFA Nations League next month
Andreas Herzog has been appointed as the new manager of the Israeli national football side.
The 49-year-old has previously coached the US and Austrian team as a caretaker coach, while also enjoyed took charge of the Austrian U21 side for two years.
An Israeli FA statement said: “Today, an agreement was reached in principle between the parties and at the forthcoming IFA management committee meeting Herzog’s appointment will be put to a vote,”
His first match in charge will be next month, when Israel travels to Albania for the first match of the new UEFA Nations League. They follow that match four days later, when they travel to Belfast for a friendly match against Northern Ireland, before playing Scotland in their second Nations League match in October.

Herzog was quoted by the IFA as saying: “It is a great honour and a wonderful opportunity for me to lead the Israel national team as head coach. I am certain that I will receive complete support so that I can contribute to the advancement of the team.”
