Antisemitic graffiti police probe ‘progressing well’, says Scotland Yard chief
Metropolitan Police commissioner Dame Cressida Dick said force taking 'investigation extremely seriously'
Scotland Yard chief Dame Cressida Dick has sought to reassure the community after several shopfronts and a synagogue were daubed with antisemitic graffiti last month.
Speaking to LBC radio’s Nick Ferrari on Wednesday morning, Dame Cressida revealed the investigation was “progressing well.”
“I know it has really shaken people in the local area and in the wider Jewish community,” she told Ferrari.
“And as you know we have a zero-tolerance approach to antisemitic crime. We are taking that investigation extremely seriously and it is progressing well I am pleased to say,” she added.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Wednesday no arrests have been made.
The force is investigating a racially motivated hate crime after receiving a report of the graffiti at 11.30pm on 28 December.
A Star of David and the numbers “9.11” were spray-painted at locations in Hampstead and Belsize Park, including South Hampstead Synagogue and the restaurant Cafe Hamsptead.
