Benayoun left out of Israel squad
Former national captain has been omitted for next week's friendly against Serbia
Yossi Benayoun has been left out of Elisha Levy’s first squad – for next week’s friendly international against Serbia.
Benayoun and Elyaniv Barda were left out of the squad, though there were call-ups for youngsters Neta Lavi and Dor Peretz.
Hapoel Beer Sheva, who claimed their first league title in 40 years at the weekend, have six representatives, including former Chelsea striker Ben Sahar. Another notable absentee is Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Beram Kayal
Levy’s first match against the Serbians takes place in Novi Sad, ahead of their first World Cup 2018 qualifier on 5 September, when they host Italy.
