Blatter ignores anti-Israel calls
FIFA’s President Sepp Blatter has said he won’t be taking action against Israel, despite being urged to so by Palestinian officials.
Blatter was in the Middle East earlier this week, where he met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Head of the Palestine FA Jibril Rajoub, in Ramallah on Monday, before holding meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Avi Luzon, Head of the Israeli FA on Tuesday, though said: “he would work towards finding a “solution” to Palestinians’ demands.
Luzon meanwhile said he’d be willing to hold a peace match between the two countries, saying: “I think
that soccer can be a bridge for peace and if they [referring to the Palestinians] will want, as I have offered more than once to Jibril Rajoub, that once he decides I’m willing to hold a match between Israel and Palestine for peace.”
