Board Manifesto pledges backed by over 50 parliamentary candidates
Over 50 prospective parliamentary candidates have signed up to all ten pledges in the Board of Deputies pre-election Jewish Manifesto, but community bosses say there is more to do.
Another 30 said that while they did not sign up to all ten commitments, they could support some of the policy asks, in areas such as anti-Semitism, social action, Israel and religious freedom.
Board chief executive Gillian Merron said: “There is more to do. In the final weeks of the election campaign we need as many people as possible to ask their candidates to support the Jewish Manifesto and sign up to the 10 commitments”.
The Board has produced similar manifestos before, including one for candidates for the European Parliament last year, which highlighted areas of Jewish interest and concern, including anti-Israel boycotts.
