Cameron hints at Jewish school security boost
David Cameron suggested at this week’s Prime Minister’s Questions that his government would extend its funding of security measures in Jewish schools.
After a question was tabled by the MP for Hendon, Matthew Offord, Cameron said he would “look very carefully” at the proposal. He added: “I’m a strong supporter of free schools and a strong supporter of the Community Security Trust that has provided a lot of security for schools. I think the education secretary will be very happy to look at this issue to see how we can continue to give them support.”
One of the first acts of the coalition government in 2010 was to agree a request to fund security measures in Jewish voluntary aided, maintained and free schools. However, that agreement is due to expire in 2015.
