Chair of Reform ‘deeply regrets’ having to stand down
Progressive movement accepts resignation of Robert Wilshire after less than a year at the helm
The chair of Reform Judaism’s board says he “deeply regrets” having to step down from the role after less than a year in charge.
Robert Wilshire quit the progressive movement’s top body citing pressures from his working life which prevent him from dedicating the time needed for the role.
He says: “I deeply regret stepping down from the Board at this time. My business commitments have changed, denying me the time that I need to Chair the Movement. However, MRJ with a dynamic board and superb professional team is in excellent hands and I am grateful for their support and understanding. I will continue to offer my support in whatever way I can as I truly believe in the mission to maintain a vibrant Reform movement for future generations.”
The movement accepted his resignation and thanked him for his “outstanding contribution” especially during the pandemic, saying worked “tirelessly’ since taking charge last December.
Co-vice chairs Michael Harris and Paul Langsford will take the reins until a permanent appointment is in place.
