Chanu-cut! Stylish way to support Israeli kids with cancer
Celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke helps support Zichron Menachem's initiative by cutting hair to make wigs for Israeli children with cancer.
Celebrity London hairdresser Nicky Clarke promoted a global Jewish initiative over Chanukah by cutting hair to make wigs for Israeli children with cancer.
The event, called Chanucut, saw hairdressers in the UK, Canada, Hong Kong and Israel snip in tandem for the charity Zichron Menachem, with Clarke getting involved by cutting the hair of 42 girls and young women.
“There’s an amazing energy about the event,” said the 59-year-old. “I’ve been blown away by what the charity does.”
The charity has supported tens of thousands of Israeli children and their families since its founding in 1990, and had called for those with hair of at least 30cm in length to visit JFS last Sunday for a trim. Organisers praised those donating their hair, with each one “giving a girl in Israel with cancer a stunning, life-transforming wig”.
Chanucut UK chair Eli Seliger said: “I congratulate all our amazing Chanucutters.”
