Chelsea and US club New England Revolution to take part in March of the Living
The March of the Living, which draws 10,000 participants, is an annual event in which people walk from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp.
Directors of Chelsea Football Club and an American football club based in Boston will take part in the ‘March of the Living’ event at Auschwitz-Birkenau on 2 May.
The owners of Chelsea and New England Revolution – Roman Abramovich and Robert Kraft – are both Jewish, and have a record of supporting efforts within sport to combat antisemitism and discrimination.
The March of the Living, which draws 10,000 visitors, is an annual event in which people walk from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp.
Participants will include Chelsea director Eugene Tenenbaum, chief executive Guy Laurence, former manager Avram Grant and club ambassador Steve Redgrave.
Tenenbaum said: “Sharing this experience of paying our respects to the millions of Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust with members of the New England Revolution goes a long way in spreading the message of unity and tolerance.”
