Chief rabbi and top Reform leader on list of influential London faith figures
Rabbis Ephraim Mirvis and Laura Janner-Klausner make the cut for the Standard's Progress 1000, alongside Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and The Queen
Senior Reform Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner has been named as one of the most influential faith figures in London, alongside Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and The Queen.
Janner-Klausner was one of four women listed in the influential Progress 1000, compiled by the Evening Standard, together with Bishop of London Sarah Mullally and journalists’ rector Alison Joyce, based on Fleet Street.
The listing describes the Reform leader as “tiny and fizzing with energy,” while Mirvis is said to lead orthodox Jewry “with dignity and intellectual assurance”.
Janner-Klausner is a regular on BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day, BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought and BBC One’s The Big Questions and Sunday Morning Live.
She studied at Cambridge under Welby’s predecessor, Rowan Williams, and has since forged close bonds across the Christian and Muslim communities.
