Chief to visit slums during 10-day visit to India
The Chief Rabbi has begun a 10-day visit to India.
Ephraim Mirvis will meet members of Jewish communities in Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin and Calcutta and spend time in the slums of ‘kalwa’, north of Mumbai, as well as visiting social action projects which help provide security for poor and vulnerable people. Among them will be one run by Tzedek.
The Chief Rabbi was welcomed last weekend by Navtej Sarna, the former ambassador to Israel and incoming Indian high commissioner to the UK.
