Child psychologist launches ‘Mighty Cards’ to promote children’s wellbeing
Each deck contains 36 techniques to release tension, build self-esteem and encourage self-compassion
A Jewish child psychologist has launched a new product to help those aged between four and 11 cope with tricky feelings and stress during lockdown.
Young & Mighty founder Dr. Gail Sinitsky created Mighty Cards, a set of illustrated mental health cards seeking to encourage children to express their feelings and build resilience.
Each deck, available for £15.99 on www.youngandmighty.com, contains 36 techniques to release tension, promote wellbeing and build self-esteem, including through breathing exercises as well as physical and creative activities.
Young & Mighty pledged to reinvest half all profits into mental health projects to support disadvantaged and vulnerable children or those living with additional needs.
Dr Sinitsky said: “The coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on all of us – and it’s vital that we provide opportunities for children to process their feelings and what is going on around them.”
The Samaritans (116 123) provides a confidential service for those in despair or who are feeling suicidal.
Childline is a free 24-hour counselling service for children and young people aged up to 19 and can be reached on 0800 1111.
