Children’s hospice ‘overwhelmed’ by £100,000 grant from Pears Foundation
A London children’s hospice was left “overwhelmed” by an “incredibly generous grant” of £100,000 from The Pears Foundation.
The family foundation, rooted in Jewish values, gave the grant to Haven House Children’s Hospice to assist with its running and planned expansion.
Based in Woodford Green, the hospice launched a five-year strategy increase the number of children it supports per-year, to 500, by the end of the decade. This is expected to increase its costs to £5million by 2020.
The Pears Foundation, which sponsors Jewish News‘s Interfaith channel, is chaired by Trevor Pears, who said: “Our family is delighted to support the hospice as it seeks to expand its services.
Haven House is at the forefront of providing innovative palliative care to life-limited children and we hope our grant can encourage other investors to support the charity.”
Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: “We have been left overwhelmed by this incredibly generous grant from the Pears Foundation.”
