Clavicular livestream costs IDF soldier her spokesperson role
Military reprimands soldier after broadcasts with controversial influencer as investigation into the incident continues
An Israeli soldier has been removed from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit after appearing in a series of livestreams with controversial influencer Braden Peters, better known online as Clavicular.
According to Israeli broadcaster N12, Shira Braun was formally reprimanded and reassigned to work as a cook while the Israel Defence Forces continues investigating the incident.
Peters, a “looksmaxxing” influencer, has drawn widespread criticism for antisemitic remarks and for appearing alongside white supremacist Nick Fuentes while singing Kanye West’s song Heil Hitler. His visit to Israel has also divided pro-Israel influencers, with some refusing to work with him because of his record.
Braun appeared in several of Peters’ livestreams during his recent visit to Tel Aviv. During one broadcast, Peters repeatedly attempted to kiss or touch her on camera and remarked that he would take her to a hotel room. Braun also shared, before later deleting it, an Instagram video showing her teaching Peters an acro-yoga move.
The controversy escalated after Peters claimed Braun was “the IDF’s social media manager” during one of his broadcasts. The IDF has not confirmed that description, but Israeli media reported Braun served in the Spokesperson’s Unit, where teams of soldiers help manage the military’s official social media accounts.
The Jerusalem Post reported that Braun also showed Peters the IDF’s official TikTok account on her phone during one livestream, a move that reportedly contributed to her removal from the unit.
In a statement, the IDF said: “The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and disciplinary measures will be determined accordingly once it concludes.”
It added: “The soldier acted without coordination with her commander, and her conduct does not align with what is expected of IDF soldiers. The incident is under investigation, and the soldier will face disciplinary action.”
Peters has since said he is leaving Israel after cutting short an interview with Channel 13 when asked whether he had travelled to the country to apologise.
“This is the most ridiculous thing ever. I just woke up, and I don’t want to be talking to someone who is going to be rude. Because I’m here to do good things,” he said before ending the interview.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Braun has since been subjected to a wave of online abuse, including death threats and messages wishing she had been “raped and killed at Nova” and “you wh**e, you escort, they’ll slaughter you, we’ll throw a party over your pieces.”
Israeli influencer Shira Klein, who also appeared on Peters’ livestreams, later said she had not known about his history of antisemitic comments before meeting him. She said she had been approached by a pro-Israel influencer to help show viewers the “real Israel.”
