Clore Tikva students raise £4,500 for equipment during obstacle course fun day

Jewish youngsters got down and dirty on Friday as they crawled through army nets, climbed up walls and ran through tyres as instructors had them doing squats, push-ups and vaults.
The 460 children, from nursery to year 6, were taking part in an obstacle course at Clore Tikva School in Barkingside and their sweat and tears helped raise £4,500 for new sports equipment and other educational support.
Experts from local gyms and farm shops were on-hand for advice on exercise and nutrition and there was even a golf pro giving pupils a free game of golf.
“I love putting this event together,” said organisers Ursula Perry. “The children have a lot of fun and get a lot out of it. It’s definitely one of the best days in the school calendar!”
Local MP Wes Streeting, who presented the would-be athletes with their medals, said: “The parents and staff involved did a fantastic job organising what must be one of the most fun and elaborate obstacle courses put on by any school in the Borough. The money raised will be put to good use by the school.”
He added: “There were smiles all round from the pupils who clearly had a great time. I’m looking forward to the next one!”
