Jewish News Community Hero Award: Nominations are now open!
We've launched our annual search for individuals who've performed extraordinary acts of kindness over the past 12 months, in partnership with Mitzvah Day
Do you know a hero in our midst? Someone who has performed an extraordinary act of kindness over the past 12 months or worked tirelessly over many years to help those in need?
Jewish News’ annual Community Hero, in partnership with Mitzvah Day, is looking to shine a light on such heroes.
We’ll be honouring someone who has performed an extraordinary act of kindness over the past 12 months or worked tirelessly to help those in need.
The winner will follow in the footsteps of last year’s inspiring recipient, Rachel Morgan. She posthumously won the prize for raising thousands of pounds for charity through a series of physical feats, including 13 skydives – despite suffering from Hypermobility Syndrome, which severely affects the body’s joints and pain pathways to the brain.
Our finalists will be revealed next month before the winner is announced at the conclusion of Mitzvah Day on 27 November – when thousands of people give their time to support good causes across the country.

Nominations must be received by 7 November.
A shortlist will be drawn up and a winner picked by judges including Mitzvah Day founder Laura Marks, Jewish News editor Richard Ferrer, Hendon MP Matthew Offord and Helen Simmons, chief executive of Nightingale Hammerson.
Entires for the Mitzvah Day Awards are also open – with gongs for Best Mitzvah Day, Top School Project, Interfaith Partnership and an All Year Round Award.
