Debra Tammer’s new show previews in London before heading to Edinburgh
Plus: Bella Narain appears in London next month
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival may be starting next week but nonetheless London has its fair share of comedy coming up.
Comedian Debra Tammer is staging an Edinburgh preview of her show Extraordinary Alien in London this week.
Billed as “her most Jewish show ever!” Extraordinary Alien is inspired by Debra’s requirement to get a visa to work in the USA. Debra, who had moved there with her husband and family, was told the only way she would be eligible for a visa was as an “extraordinary alien”. And the invincible comedian set out to prove she was just that.
Her show, navigating culture clashes, motherhood, antisemitism and identity, is warm, self-deprecating and packed with characters and sharply observed stories. Extraordinary Alien is a hilarious journey through family, belonging and learning to embrace what makes you different. It’s on for two nights in London before transferring to Edinburgh.

In August Bella Narain’s Hot Girl Comedy’s will be in Covent Garden. Joining her will be Live at the Apollo star Spring Day, Channel Four favourite Katerina Robinson, Bonya Kleyman and Mohini. In September Bella is hosting at Shoreditch Balls with a comedian from New York and they will be joined by Val Vulpe and Mary O’Connell. The shows are raising money for Literacy Pirates and there will be a raffle with high-value prizes.
