Dina at the double!
Ten-year-old retains her Barnet Primary Schools Cross Country run win
It was a case of lightning striking twice for Dina Silverman as she once again won gold at the Barnet Primary Schools Cross Country run.
Open to all Barnet state schools, the 10-year-old Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School pupil competed against 80 other runners over the 1,500m race at Barnet Copthall playing fields.
Her mother, Zoe, who runs with Dina, said: “She has always been the fastest runner at her school – although we didn’t realise how fast until last year when the school entered her for the race and she came first out of all the girls then. So we are proud for the repeat performance!”
An all-round sportsperson – she’s both a keen footballer (the only girl in her team) and swimmer, she plans to take part in a school’s triathlon next month and compete in the Maccabi GB Fun Run. Also hoping to take up formal running for a club with a view to competing in more races in the future, she said of her win: “I was really pleased I won it again this year, all the training paid off!”
