Jordanian assailant stabbed whilst attacking Israeli policeman
Jordanian official labels the killing a crime, which PM Benjamin Netanyahu calls 'outrageous'
The fatal stabbing of a Jordanian by an Israeli policeman has sparked a rare row between the two countries.
Jordan labelled the killing of their national, who had attacked the policeman, as a crime but Israeli prime minster Benjamin Netanyahu branded the response as “outrageous”.
Netanhyahu said: “Jordan must condemn terror attacks in Israel”.
Jordan’s foreign minister Ayman Safadi did not refer to the Israeli comments but said his country “will confront all kinds of terrorism”.
Israel’s statement did not mention that the incident, “as bad as it was”, happened on occupied territory, said a Jordanian official.
The two countries spar sometimes over Israeli policy in east Jerusalem, captured and annexed by Israel in 1967.
