Doubles despair for Peer & Rubin at US Open
Shahar Peer and Noah Rubin both saw their US Open campaigns ended on Thursday after they were beaten in the women’s and mens’s doubles competitions.
Peer, teaming up with Kiki Bertens were comprehensively beaten by the number 8 seeds, Andrea Hlavackova and Jie Zheng, 6-0, 6-1, though Rubin and Stefan Kozlv gave a much better account of themselves against Jared Donaldson and Michael Russell. Winning the first set 6-2, they then lost the second on a tiebreak, before losing the third 6-4.
Attention now switches to Dudi Sela, who is second on the Louis Armstrong court on Friday, when he takes on the number seven seed, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
