Duer defends her WBO bantamweight title
Carolina Raquel Duer successfully defended her WBO bantamweight title for the second time at the weekend.
The 35-year-old Argentine, known as “The Turk,” beat Venezuelan Ana Maria Lozano in the ten-round contest on a unanimous points decision – 98-92, 97-93, 98-92 – in Lanus, to take her professional record to 17-3.
The first Jewish woman to hold a WBO crown, she has successfully defended her WBO super flyweight champion six times, and will now also be working as a commentator on Argentine TV for the rematch between American boxer Floyd Mayweather and the Argentine Marcos Maidana.
