JW3 has opened its three-week exhibition of Israel-inspired art by thousands of British, American and European Jewish students.

While the project, dubbed Israel75, is hosted by JW3, PaJeS, the operating arm of the Jewish Schools Network, is behind the initiative.

After exploring over 30 objects, works of art and historical spaces from 11 Israeli museums, cultural centres and heritage sites, the students created their works which reflect the narratives of Israel from biblical times until the present day.

A virtual reality museum space was created to allow the European schools to fully participate and view their creations. The works are scheduled to be exhibited this summer at one of the 11 partner museums.

Nic Abery, Primary Schools Consultant for JSN and creator of Israel70, said: “I want students to build a deep and meaningful connection to the cultural, artistic and historical diversity of Israel. This project has given them a chance to engage with the rich diversity of our shared peoplehood, language and heritage.”

“I really hope many families and schools will visit the exhibitions and celebrate the remarkable artistic and creative achievements of our teachers and students,” Abery added.

Rabbi David Meyer called the Israel75 project a “wonderful initiative that brings to life the rich history of Israel, the relevance it has to our community and the significance of Israel’s independence 70 years ago.”

“It is a credit to Nic and the whole PaJeS team that children from across the UK and around the world are coming together to participate in this wonderful project,” Meyer added.
