Fire-juggling Lag B’Omer forest party for Scottish Jews
Scottish Jews are preparing to spend the Jewish holiday of Lag B’Omer in the forest where they will “learn to walk like a fox, talk like a bird and dance like a tree”.
The innovative event, in Midlothian’s Vogrie Country Park, will see participants making bows and arrows from local timber and learning the secrets of the beautiful Tyne Valley’s trees, flowers, birds and beasts.
The family-friendly extravaganza also invites Scotland’s Jewish youngsters to make a willow star or a wood cookie, while the adults can harness their fire-making abilities and camp fire cookery, snacking on plants foraged from nearby.
And if all that wasn’t enough, the evening’s entertainment will feature a fire-juggler billed as suitably able to demonstrate “daring and dexterity” in equal measure.
