Jewish founders of forCrohns charity honoured
The founders of a charity set up to fund research into Crohn’s Disease have been recognised for raising more than £100,000 for St Mark’s Hospital Foundation.
Friends Natasha Adley and Lisa Meleck, both 29, of Mill Hill and Hampstead Garden Suburb respectively, decided to act back in 2002 as a response to both their mothers suffering from the chronic stomach condition.
Annual events, including the 10kforCrohns run around Hyde Park, have become part of the community fundraising calendar and have so far helped raise £400,000 towards projects that may eventually offer the hope of a cure for Crohn’s sufferers.
“When we set up forCrohns we never dreamed of being able to raise so
much money,” said Tasha. “We are humbled by this award.”
The next 12 months look set to be busy for charity, with the launch of
its BookforCrohns in 2015, together with ideas such as WalkforCrohns and the inaugural Café Crawl forCrohns.
