Former football stars voice FA’s anti-discrimination videos
A series of short films narrated by former England football stars has been launched to help tackle discrimination in football.
The films, supported by the Football Association and equality campaigners from Kick It Out, are being distributed across the country, from grass-roots clubs to top tier teams, to address what officials describe as “under-reporting”.
Ex-players Graeme Le Saux and Dion Dublin said they were “delighted” to be involved in making the films, which can be downloaded for free from the FA’s website.
FA director Darren Bailey said: “We encourage anyone who has witnessed or experienced any form of discriminatory abuse to report it. The films make it clear the various ways in which this can be done.”
Jewish groups recently welcomed the decision of an FA disciplinary panel to ban West Bromwich Albion striker Nicolas Anelka for five matches after he made what is widely regarded as an anti-Semitic salute in front of millions of viewers in December.
