Four arrested for antisemitic convoy bailed over ‘similar’ Salford incident
EXCLUSIVE: Police confirm individuals at centre of Sunday's outrage are linked to an incident in the Broughton Park area of Greater Manchester
The four men arrested in connection with the with an investigation into a video which appeared to show antisemitic abuse being shouted from a car in north London have been arrested in connection with a “similar” incident in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Police confirm that the men – who were in a car travelling as part of a convoy of vehicles through the St John’s Wood area on Sunday afternoon – have also been linked to an incident in the Broughton Park area of Salford in the early hours of that same morning.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Metroplitan Police confirmed the four males had now been bailed pending further investigations into both incidents.
Police said they received reports of people shouting antisemitic abuse from a car travelling as part of a convoy of vehicles through the St John’s Wood
Enquiries were carried out and officers traced the car to the A40 in Hillingdon. The police helicopter was deployed, and officers stopped the car at approximately 18:30hrs.
The four men were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences. They were taken into custody at a west London police station.
The Met statement confirmed that whilst there ” they were additionally arrested in connection with a similar incident which took place at around 01.35hrs on Sunday, 16 May in the Broughton Park area of Salford, Manchester.
“They have since been released on bail pending further enquiries in relation to both incidents.”
