Four new Vice Presidents announced by Jewish Leadership Council
Four new Vice Presidents have been announced by the Jewish Leadership Council, writes Jack Mendel
The new appointees to the Jewish community body are Lord Finkelstein, Lord Kestenbaum, Baroness Neuberger and Lord Palmer.
As new Vice Presidents, the four will help to support the community leadership, advising JLC Trustees and members.
Sir Mick Davis, Chairman of the Board of Trustees said: “It is really important for the JLC to have Vice Presidents who enrich and enhance our community. They are a resource that we can all use to ensure that our community continues to be vibrant, safe and secure.”
Following the appointment, Lord Finkelstein, an Associate Editor and regular columnist for The Times said: “It is a great pleasure to serve as a Vice President to the Jewish Leadership Council. The Jewish community is wide and diverse and I am pleased I will be able to offer my expertise in my new role.”
Chief Operating Officer of RIT Capital Partners plc Lord Kestenbaum, who was made a life peer in 2010, said: “The institutions that make up the JLC are the fabric of the Jewish community, it is an honour and privilege to be in position to assist them.”
Senior Rabbi at West London Synagogue, Baroness Neuberger said: “I am much looking forward to contributing to the work of the JLC and its members, and am honoured to have been nominated.”
Liberal Democrat peer Lord Monroe Palmer, who is the Personal Adviser on the Middle East to the current Leader, Tim Farron, said: “I have worked with the Jewish community for many years and I am pleased that my new role will allow me to contribute directly to the many institutions of the community.”
All 11 Vice Presidents, including those who have been reappointed are: Leo Noe, Sir Trevor Chinn CVO, Sir Victor Blank, Henry Grunwald OBE QC, Lord Leigh, Michele Vogel and Lord Woolf CH. They will serve a three year term.
