Global anti-Israel BDS campaign nominated for Nobel Peace award
Norwegian politician Bjørnar Moxnes formally puts forward the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement for the prize
The global anti-Israel boycott campaign has been nominated for a Nobel Peace award by a Norwegian politician.
Bjørnar Moxnes, a member of Norway’s Parliament, formally nominated the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, with support from a range of left-wing and liberal Norwegian political parties.
Speaking to Middle East Monitor, Moxness said the nomination reflected “the growing international solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for justice, dignity and freedom from the Israeli occupation”.
He said his progressive Rødt (Red) Party was “fully committed to stopping an ascendant, racist and right-wing politics sweeping too much of our world,” adding that BDS was “inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement and the American Civil Rights movement”.
