Greeks intercept Iran arms shipment apparently sent by an Israeli
Greek officials intercepted arms shipments to Iran apparently sent by an Israeli, in violation of international sanctions.
The Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported over the weekend that Greek officials working with America’s Homeland Security Investigations agency uncovered shipments of spare parts for F4 Phantom jets in December 2012 and again in April 2013.
A Greek court ordered the shipments confiscated and transferred to the Americans, according to Kathimerini, which claims to have a copy of the investigation report.
According to the paper, the shipment originated in the Israeli town of Binyamina-Giv’at Ada and was sent via a Greek firm based in Athens, but investigators found it was a ghost company.
The firm was registered by a British national from Thessaloniki, who could not be traced and the Israeli was not named.
