Hapoel Jerusalem celebrate historic basketball win
Hapoel Jerusalem won their first ever Israel State Championships basketball title after beating Hapoel Eilat 88-68 in front of 11,000 fans.
Team captain Yotam Halperin said: “Every title in important, but making history is something else.” Coach Danny Franko said: “We became better with time and we deserve this title.”
Trailing at one point by 11 points, they turned the match on its head in the third quarter, recording a quickfire 20-point spurt to secure the win.
CEO Guy Harel said: “We went through a crazy experience, this amazing crowd deserves this. This city deserves this, this team deserves this.”
