Hatzola volunteers join country in clapping tribute to carers and NHS
The emergency service took to social media to share a video of the moment
Hatzola volunteers joined the rest of the country in a public clapping tribute to NHS workers and carers on Thursday evening.
They took part in Thursday evening’s mass round of applause alongside NHS staff outside east London’s Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The emergency team serving mostly Jewish communities took to social media to share a video of the moment its volunteers clapped for the “amazing work of the NHS”.
The hospital trust’s emergency department thanked Hatzola volunteers for their support, describing them as a “truly amazing team” in a tweet on Thursday evening.

Sharing the clip on its timeline, the trust tweeted: “Absolutely brilliant! Live from our front door!”
An appeal to blow shofars in gratitude to hatzola volunteers circulated on social media. But it was unclear where the message had originated.
Elsewhere, members of the public rallied round the hashtag #clapforourcarers to honour those on the frontline of the pandemic.
Joining in were the prime minister Boris Johnson, a swathe of celebrities – including TV chef Jamie Oliver, David Beckham and Daniel Craig – and members of the royal family.
A clip of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children taking part was posted on Thursday evening just as members of the public were putting their hands together up and down the country.
The Queen said in a message posted on the royal family’s Instagram account: “We are enormously thankful for the expertise and commitment of our scientists, medical practitioners and emergency and public services.”
