Herzog claims UK failing to stand up to Iranian threat
Israeli president says regime in Tehran must be 'crushed'
Israel’s president, Isaac Herzog, has accused Keir Starmer of failing to stand up to the “rogue state” of Iran.
In a new interview, he said:”How come in Britain, the Prime Minister of Britain says there were about 10 or 20 events last year linked to Iranian terror. What is this?
“They’re allowed to do what they want. They are a rogue state. They’re an empire of evil, and they’re an evil regime, and must be crushed.”
Herzog also suggested that the launch of an Iranian missile towards the Chagos Island military base on Diego Garcia was another sign of Tehran’s ultimate intent to target Europe and the UK.
He said: “Once the Iranians launched a 4000-kilometre missile to Diego Garcia, okay, that’s 2500 miles. That definitely covers all of Europe, including England. What are you so naive about? Read their scriptures, read their ideology.”
In the interview with StandWithUs Israel executive director Michael Dickson at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, Herzog repeatedly made two claims.
Firstly, Europe had failed to grasp the scale of the Iranian threat, and, secondly, the possibility that the current war could create conditions for historic political change in Iran.
He was also asked about a war that once again had seen scores of missiles fired at Israel.
“We have to understand this issue of missiles all over Israel,” said Herzog. ” It’s part of the psychological warfare of Iran.
“They want to show us that we’re exposed, but look at the numbers. First of all, they do create damage. We admit … Israelis are in shelters, and it’s very unpleasant for all of us.
“But we are strong, and we understand this era must go. We must go through it now. The psychological element is actually a tool of the weak, meaning, they send missiles to kill any citizen possible, any civilian possible.
“They’re killing Muslims, they’re killing Christians, they’re killing Jews.”
