How about some knitted sunshine for Passover?
If spring dressing is about optimism, Cara & The Sky has the colours to provide it
When British designer Cara Mezack launched the brand Cara & The Sky in 2019, she had a simple frustration: the high street seemed dominated by beige. Where, she wondered, were the joyful knits — the ones that made you smile when you pulled them on? Her answer was to design them herself. Cara & The Sky was born, bringing colour, personality and optimism back to everyday knitwear.
The London-born label, quickly built a loyal following due to its signature combination of bold colour, relaxed silhouettes and conscientious production. Each piece is designed by Mezack and produced in small batches in the UK, part of a deliberate “slow fashion” approach that prioritises quality and sustainability over fast-turnaround trends.
For spring, Cara & The Sky’s new range embraces what fashion insiders call “dopamine dressing” — clothing designed simply to lift the mood. That’s oversized cardigans, playful crochet stripes and wide-sleeve jumpers in punchy shades of pink, orange and sky blue. These are pieces that feel relaxed but distinctive: balloon sleeves, checkerboard patterns and textured stitches bring a bit of drama to easy, wearable shapes. And – and it’s a big one. Cara has matching knits for mother and child which guarantee the kind of attention most jumpers can’t provide.

The brand’s philosophy is as important as its aesthetic. Cara & The Sky’s knits are vegan-friendly and produced through transparent, ethical manufacturing, with packaging designed to be recyclable or biodegradable. “Sustainability doesn’t have to mean sacrificing colour or creativity,” says Cara, Borehamwood mother of two. Prices range from around £70 to £90 for jumpers and cardigans, placing the label in the accessible luxury bracket and the website also has gifts – candles, diffusers, room and body fragrances by LORDS Fragrance House which use sustainable ingredients and come in eco conscious packaging. Ultimately, Cara Mezack’s spring collection offers something far brighter: a little burst of sunshine, knitted and if you fancy – a candle.
